About our Emergency Medicine Residency Program
Our mission is to train emergency medicine physicians with a focus on clinical excellence, compassion, and community to provide quality care and social justice for all. We strive to develop clinical and academic leaders through innovative education.
We will achieve our goal of becoming a first-rate emergency medicine training program through the “3 C’s”:
Clinical Excellence
Our academic hub, Chandler Regional Medical Center, is a high acuity, Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with more than 70,000 ED visits annually and has won the community choice best Emergency Department in the East Valley. Our sister community hospital, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center includes a brand new, on-site Pediatric ED in collaboration with Phoenix Children’s. Our emphasis is to provide safe, efficient, and evidence-based care to the community.
Innovative Curriculum
We balance high-yield emergency medicine rotations with an innovative didactic curriculum, which emphasizes not only a structured core content review using the most effective tools available, but allows for active learning: short lectures, simulation, oral boards, small groups, escape rooms and games.
Diverse & Inclusive Community
Knowing that diverse teams promote excellence, we value building an inclusive community of individuals who feel supported by their peers, colleagues, and faculty. We uplift the Common Spirit mission of improving the health of those we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while advancing social justice for all.
Hot Opportunities in the Valley of the Sun
Our geography offers a multitude of outdoor activities including hiking, swimming and beautiful destinations that can be explored year-round. The lakes near Chandler offer great water skiing with mountains and and various snow / winter activities being only a short drive away. Indoor attractions include thriving arts and culture, dining, entertainment and more here in the East Valley and only 30 minutes away in Phoenix and Scottsdale. The East Valley offers great communities to live in and neighbors to get to know.
