Rotate with Us as an Acting Intern

This information is for 4th year medical students interested in EM to rotate with us at Dignity Health- East Valley Emergency Medicine program in Chandler, Arizona (Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center). You can apply for our rotation starting in March 2024 through VSLO. Note: Creighton students should apply through the Course Guide, contact Xavier Torres ([email protected]) for any questions.

AI Rotation Structure

During this rotation you will complete 12 shifts with our EM faculty, an EMS ride along, and a nursing shift, as well as weekly didactics on Tuesday mornings. Our AI student curriculum is a "boot camp" where each week you walk through core content via a series of high-yield quizzes and videos that supplement in-person case-based discussions, didactic lectures, simulation, and procedural skill labs to ensure you gain the basic knowledge of emergency medicine and are putting your best foot forward in future rotations or as a new intern.

To rotate with us as an AI, you must be:

  • A 4th year of medical school at an LCME or COCA accredited program
  • Have either BLS or ACLS training that has not expired
  • Have passed the USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1
  • See additional requirements in VSLO

We will guarantee a Standardized Letter of Evaluation (eSLOE) to those students rotating with us to be submitted on time.  We also will guarantee an interview with our program during the Emergency Medicine interview season (with the exception of rotation failure).

For 3rd Year Students or 4th Year non-EM Bound Students

Please contact our program coordinator listed below for information regarding potential rotations. These will be preceptor-based, as you will need to solicit a preceptor to host you one-on-one for the month. We suggest completing these rotations during the months of January-June.
