Clarence E. Clark III MD, MBA, FACS, FASCRS
General Surgery Program Director
Dr. Clarence Clark is the Founding Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Clark is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons; member of the Association of Academic Surgeons, and served as an executive board member of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery.
Dr. Clark earned his bachelor’s in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical doctorate from Penn State University College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Clark subsequently completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Colon and Rectal Surgery Program in San Antonio. In addition, he completed his MBA through Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management.
Published in many peer-reviewed and book chapters, Dr. Clark has written on hemorrhoid surgery, robotic surgery for resident training, techniques in advanced coloproctology for fistulizing anorectal disease, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and single incision laparoscopic colectomy among others.
