Nilofar Najafian, MD

Nilofar Najafian, MD earned her medical degree from Stony Brook Medical School in Long Island, and completed her Internal Medicine training at Yale University. She subsequently worked as a hospitalist and Assistant Clinical Professor at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She then completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at UCLA and a dedicated fellowship in Transplant Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Najafian’s expertise includes care of patients with cirrhosis, liver transplantation, viral hepatitis, liver cancer, in addition to metabolic, autoimmune, alcohol-associated and fatty liver disease. She has special interest in medical education and teaching.

Her contributions to research have resulted in multiple publications which have been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the American Association for Study of Liver Diseases, and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Najafian is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Her approach to medicine is based on patient-centered care with core values in trust, respect, and compassion. Dr. Najafian believes that effective liver care goes beyond diagnosis and treatment; it involves understanding each patient’s unique story and lifestyle.
