Yoga Patient Story
To Whom It May Concern:
I am extremely grateful to be a member of Lindsey Robertson’s weekly “Yoga of the Heart” program. I first learned about the program from my cardiologist. I love yoga, but it’s challenging for me to attend in person. I need modifications that are best accommodated in my own home, and I must avoid exposure to Covid and other illnesses. As such, I was mostly limited to pre-recorded yoga youtube videos.
I was excited for the opportunity to attend Lindsey’s zoom yoga class and interact with others! But I was also nervous, because for a long time during Covid my primary social interactions were doctor appointments. So when I first started Lindsey’s program several months ago, I was hesitant to participate or turn on my camera.
But with every session, I felt my confidence growing. Lindsey is always smiling, welcoming everyone and giving gentle, warm encouragement. She always begins with a heartfelt message that is relevant to my life, and how I want to feel and be in the world. Then she moves into a breathing exercise that really helps build lung strength. After this, she eases into all levels yoga poses, recognizing any necessary modifications. And she finishes with a rest and integration period, followed by genuine gratitude.
Sometimes I would start the session feeling tired or distracted, but I would always end feeling focused and empowered! And I soon began to feel more motivated toward fitness overall. Moves that I learned from Lindsey, I started incorporating into my daily fitness routines. I also made more efforts to do yoga and other fitness on other days of the week.
These days, I’ve become so confident that I have other social events; but I still look forward to Lindsay’s Yoga so much that I schedule other appointments around it! I turn on my camera and participate, because I’m proud to be part of a group of such kind, supportive ladies. And I make my physical and mental health a priority in my life, every day. I truly appreciate all the hard work, joy, and genuine compassion that Lindsey puts into this program every week; and how much of a positive impact it has on my life.
