Finley-Hazle Receives Outstanding Achievement in Leadership Award from AZ Business and AZRE magazines

Gabrielle Finley-Hazle, President and CEO of Dignity Health Arizona Central and West Valley, has been honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Leadership Award from AZ Business and AZRE magazines.

The prestigious recognition was bestowed during an event celebrating Arizona’s Most Influential Women of 2021 at Chateau Luxe in Phoenix on August 26. More than 2,200 women were nominated for the award.

“Gabrielle Finley-Hazle has shown extraordinary leadership through the most challenging crisis the healthcare sector will face in our lifetimes,” said Michael Gossie, AZ Business magazine editor in chief. “On top of that, she is helping Arizona address its critical shortage of healthcare professionals by working with world-renowned physicians to launch a new era of medical education in Phoenix with Creighton University. When the judging committee looked at those factors, Gabrielle was a unanimous choice for the Outstanding Achievement in Leadership spotlight award.”

Finley-Hazle said “this has been a tough year for our healthcare teams across the state and as we enter another surge, now more than ever we need the help of our community to slow the spread of this virus. I want to thank and acknowledge the courageous and selfless acts of our health care workers. They have been more than heroic and continue to fight for the most precious gift we have from God...our life.”

“The reality is that the COVID-19 pandemic continues and as a result, there have been many heart wrenching days, but there have also been many faith strengthening moments that give our teams hope,” says Finley-Hazle. “We desperately need more healthcare workers across the country and we are committed to education. So we are blessed to have Creighton University’s Health Sciences Campus here in Phoenix now and we are grateful for the partnerships we have with colleges and universities across the state.”

The new Creighton University Health Sciences campus, located adjacent to Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will train more than 900 medical, nursing, and health professional students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows each year through the Creighton University’s Arizona Health Education Alliance.

“It’s a privilege to be a part of the Creighton Alliance and an honor to lead the Dignity Health hospitals in the Central and West Valley including Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. The expert care the hospital provides, our partnership with the Creighton University School of Medicine and the incredible medical innovations that have been developed to heal patients from around the world is inspiring and exemplifies our mission. Our amazing physicians are innovators, scientists, and mentors. They inspire me each day to think of new ways to deliver healthcare services and they motivate us all to elevate the level of care we provide to the community. It's a privilege to work in healthcare and to mentor others who want to pursue a healthcare career.”

The event was the 10th anniversary of the Most Influential Women in Arizona Business program, which has honored governors, senators, Supreme Court justices, the first woman to fly a fighter jet in combat, college presidents and Olympic gold medalists.
