Matthew E. Cox has been named the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Dignity Health in Arizona.  Dignity Health is the parent organization for St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.

“I am honored to be joining the dedicated team at Dignity Health in Arizona.  The Arizona service area is growing rapidly and this is an exciting time to be a leader in healthcare,” said Cox.   “I am delighted to be part of this dynamic organization and help lead its future.”

Cox previously held the position of Executive Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Central Maine Healthcare, an integrated health system with over 350 employed providers, four hospitals and a number of affiliates and joint ventures.

In his new role at Dignity Health, Cox will oversee and manage the financial operations, assist in development and growth, and help lead integration strategies.  He also will be in charge of the annual budget process for the Arizona region. Dignity Health and its partnerships and affiliations in Arizona have undergone significant expansion recently, including the groundbreaking on a new hospital in Glendale and another urgent care in Maricopa.

Prior to working at Central Maine Healthcare, Cox served as CFO and as a senior finance executive at two systems owned by Catholic Health Initiatives, the second largest Catholic health system in the United States.

Cox holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Westminster College and a Bachelors degree from the same institution.  He is also a certified public accountant.

While in college Cox served in the Marine Corps Reserves.  He is married and has three children.
