St. Joseph's celebrates the Olympic spirit that shines bright in pintsized patients
(PHOENIX, Ariz. – July 30, 2021) – The tiny but mighty patients in the nursery intensive care unit at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ are going for gold! Although they may be too small to take off to Tokyo, the babies receiving care in St. Joseph’s NyICU truly embody the Olympic spirit from half a world away.
“We care for some of the smallest and most ill babies in the country, and there is no doubt that these patients are incredibly strong and resilient,” said Andrea Hassler, nursing director of women and infant services at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s. “Every day they are diligently working toward their goal of going home with their families. Like many Olympians, the road to reaching their goal isn’t always easy, but it sure is sweet when that dream comes true!”
In honor of the Olympic Games, March of Dimes Arizona created adorable “Team USA” onesies for patients as a memorable way for families to celebrate the strides their little ones are making in the NyICU and recognize their courage during their time at St. Joseph’s.
