Monica Mircescu, MD
Mirella Monica Mircescu, MD, is an infectious disease specialist in the Internal Medicine Department at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. She is board certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Mircescu specializes in infectious diseases, particularly conditions like HIV and related illnesses as well as infections in cancer and other immuno-compromising states. She also has a personal and research interest in fungal infections including aspergillosis, mucomycosis and coccidiomycosis. Dr. Mircescu is fluent in Romanian.
She is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and American Medical Association.
Dr. Mircescu earned her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania where she graduated in the top five percent of her class. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the infectious disease fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
