Advanced Treatment Options For Brain Tumors
In addition to our expert staff, our Brain Tumor Center offers the newest advances in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and diagnostic imaging. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques include computer tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MR)I) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), digital subtraction angiography (D)SA and many others.
If surgery is determined to be the best course of treatment, Barrow neurosurgeons will use the technique most appropriate for the type and location of tumor. Treatment options may include neurosurgery, endovascular surgery or radiosurgery.
Barrow Brain Tumor Research Center
Because nearly a third of all malignant brain tumors have no cure, Barrow has established the Barrow Brain Tumor Research Center (BBTRC) to learn more about this deadly disease. Here, top scientists work alongside neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, and neuropathologists to conduct research that will one day become new diagnostic and treatment options. The BBTRC will also serve as a national center for brain tumor clinical trials. In the near future, we anticipate enabling every brain tumor patient at least one experimental therapeutic option in addition to standard therapy.
