Douglas J. Stockwell, MD, is a psychiatrist at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Stockwell’s expertise involves diagnosis and management of adults with a variety of psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychosis and behavioral disorders. He has 30 years’ experience with patients, ranging from adolescence to the elderly.
Dr. Stockwell provides care utilizing a holistic approach to patient care – addressing the biologic, psychologic and sociologic aspects of the patient’s problem, as well as how these can affect the individual as a whole being. He integrates brief intensive psychotherapy with medicines and behavioral interventions to help solve problems.
Dr. Stockwell received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Affiliated Hospitals. He is Board-Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and also holds a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rice University.
Dr. Stockwell is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Medical Association.
