Jose Urdaneta, MD
José Urdaneta, MD is a psychiatric consultant with St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center Transplant Program. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Internal Medicine and is subspecialized in Psychosomatic Medicine, as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Dr. Urdaneta’s expertise involves caring for patients with advanced medical and surgical illness. He has a particular interest in how medical illness affects patients’ sense of self, sense of well-being and quality of life. He enjoys caring for patients as part of a multidisciplinary team and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He is focused on caring for patients in the process of being evaluated for organ transplantation, as well as supporting patients during recovery after transplantation.
Dr. Urdaneta received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his residency in combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He later trained and certified in Psychosomatic Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
