Surgery

Our surgeons are fellowship trained and board certified in a number of surgical specialties. They provide education, evaluation, diagnosis and surgical treatment for a wide variety of diseases. Our Surgery Center uses a team approach to care, working with specialists in other areas to provide a personalized treatment plan that also includes education about risk factors and lifestyle changes to help prevent disease.

Surgical Services We Offer

St. Joseph's surgical services are offered both in the hospital and in a variety of outpatient surgery centers, in partnership with USPI. Regardless of which facility you choose for surgery, you will receive excellent care by our dedicated surgical nursing staff.

Medical Education and Research

Teaching and mentoring future surgeons is another key component of St. Joseph’s surgical practice. Through our affiliation with Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Arizona College of Medicine, our surgeons provide both basic science and clinical education to medical students as assistant clinical professors of surgery.

Many of our surgeons are also actively involved in clinical research, using the latest research findings in their practice. Some surgical techniques and tools developed at St. Joseph’s are now being used throughout the world.

Several complex surgical procedures, such as hysterectomy and mitral valve repair, can now be performed without open surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System, a sophisticated, minimally invasive robotic platform.
