Scott Petersen, MD
Scott Richard Petersen, MD, FACS, is the Medical Director for Trauma Services and the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Petersen is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and in Surgical Critical Care.
Dr. Petersen’s expertise involves trauma, acute care surgery, critical care and surgical nutrition. He is a member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American Burn Association, Phoenix Surgical Society, and the Committee on Trauma for the American College of Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Petersen is a Past President of the Western Trauma Association, Southwestern Surgical Congress, and the Phoenix Surgical Society. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Arizona State Trauma Advisory Board.
Dr. Petersen received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the University of California San Francisco and residency in surgery at University of Utah College of Medicine. He completed a National Institute of Health fellowship at the University of California San Francisco in Burns and Trauma.
