Dominican Hospital has been committed to the health care needs of the Santa Cruz County community for generations. In an effort to continue to meet the needs of our growing community into the future, Dominican Hospital is proposing to remodel and update the hospital, including the addition of a parking structure. Major components of the 84,000-square-foot expansion will include:
- Construction of a 3-level parking garage
- Conversion of semi-private patient rooms to private rooms
- Construction of additional operating rooms
- Reconfiguration of the current emergency department
The project will be funded by Dignity Health; and there are also opportunities for private community contributions.

Proposal to amend master plan 88-0065 by establishing a planned unit development (PUD) for construction of an approximately 84,000 square feet addition to an existing hospital. Project includes a new surgery center and reconfiguring an existing emergency room and construction of a three-story parking structure. Project does not result in additional hospital beds. Requires a PUD to increase the maximum height of 35 feet to 62 feet and an amendment to Master Plan 88-0065.
