Dr. Gary Zane

Core Faculty, Family Medicine (FMOB)

Dr. Rubin is Director for OB curriculum at Dominican Hospital, co-director for POCUS & Procedure rotation and co-director for the Osteopathy for the Underserved curriculum. She role models full spectrum Family Medicine on Labor and Delivery, inpatient medicine, and the outpatient clinic mentoring residents in the Santa Cruz Community Health Center's Resident Continuity Clinic. 

Dr. Rubin was born and raised in the Bay Area in Northern California. She began serving on mission trips when she was 13 years old, fueling her passion to serve underserved people  in both the United States and abroad. Prior to medical school, she received her Master's Degree in Global Public Health from the University of California, San Francisco and traveled to over 35 countries serving some of the most destitute populations. She became a Family Medicine Physician so that she would be able to serve people of all ages and backgrounds, in any setting. After completing her residency, she helped create a Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship and became the first  graduate in Sacramento, California. She enjoyed training in surgical obstetrics while continuing to see her Family Medicine patients both in the clinic and the hospital.

Dr. Rubin is passionate about global health, obstetrics, osteopathic manipulative medicine in primary care, and social justice. Dr. Rubin is excited about helping eliminate healthcare disparities at home in Santa Cruz, and abroad. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, skateboarding, and playing basketball with her family.
