Residency Faculty
Oriana Nolan, MPH (she/her/ella)
Oriana grew up in Santa Cruz and is happy to serve her home community as the Co-Director of Community Medicine for the Family Medicine Residency. She was previously on faculty at the UCSF Natividad Family Medicine Residency in Salinas, CA, where she directed the Community Medicine Rotation and co-created Leadership and DEI curriculum. Oriana is trained as a public health practitioner, working for two decades on culturally driven, community-led responses to health issues including HIV, Hepatitis C, harm reduction, and access to care.
She earned her MPH in Public Health and BA in Integrative Biology, both at UC Berkeley. She then lived in Mexico and Ecuador for six years, where she worked in health education and community development in both rural and urban areas. Oriana returned to Santa Cruz in 2015 and has led new initiatives throughout the Monterey Bay area for syringe exchange services, street medicine, and collaboration across institutions to improve care for marginalized groups. She serves on the board of Encompass Community Services and teaches yoga in drug recovery programs. In her free time she enjoys skiing, beach time, and exploring the wilderness in the High Sierra with her partner and two kiddos.
