Car Seat Safety

Did you know that three out of four car seats are installed incorrectly? Dignity Health Dominican Hospital’s Safely Home Car Seat Fitting program offers car seat checks and installation for patients.

All car seats are checked by a certified technician who will:

• Ensure the car seat has not been recalled by the manufacturer.
• Demonstrate how to install and use the car seat.
• Instruct how to correctly place child in the car seat.
• Offer tips on choosing the correct car seat based on a child’s age, height, and weight.

Car Seat Checks for Patients

Birth Center or NICU families can schedule a time with a certified technician to learn how to properly install their car seat before their new baby goes home. Upon admission, please speak with your nurse to schedule your car seat check or to get more information about the program.
