“The appearance of well known Sacramento television personality Tina Macuha has prompted reservations from residents outside Calaveras County, as well as overwhelming response from locals,” notes Planning Committee member Sandie Lema. Tina will share her personal journey as a ten year breast cancer survivor. She has appeared on CW 31’s Good Day Sacramento morning show since its inception and shared her battle with breast cancer with viewers over the years.
Lema adds, “Thanks to several generous sponsors this event will be held in a special tent pavilion set up on the hospital grounds for the occasion. It is the largest luncheon ever planned at MTMC and will be catered by the hospital’s popular Carmen’s Cafe. Our sponsors are Sierra Pacific Industries, the Mark Twain Health Care District and the Calaveras Cancer Support Group Fund of the Calaveras Community Foundation.”
Guests should park in the Upper Lot on the backside of the hospital, adjacent to the helipad. Parking attendants will be on hand to assist and a shuttle will be available to ease parking worries for those with mobility issues. Assisting with guest hospitality will be members of Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, the Calaveras Cancer Support Group and the MTMC Hospital Volunteers. Local organizations and businesses have donated a wide variety of door prizes.
In keeping with the Kick Cancer theme, footwear in pink the signature color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is featured as a fun theme for the event decor. Guests are urged to wear pink shoes to vie for prizes.
The Best of Shoe Art Show is drawing entries from local groups, artists and crafters. Guests will chose their favorites among the array of work reflecting the Kick Cancer theme and prizes will be awarded.
