Internal Medicine Residency Program

Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the Morehouse School of Medicine and on behalf of the More In Common Alliance, would like to extend our warmest welcome to all prospective residents interested in joining our innovative new physician residency program!

The mission of the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital residency programs is well aligned with the Morehouse School of Medicine’s mission through its focus on health promotion and healthcare delivery in underserved communities, with Kern County and Southern California being one of the most diverse communities in the nation. As a resident with Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, you will be a part of Common Spirit Health, one of the largest hospitals and health delivery systems in the country. Our residency programs are dedicated to training residents to become highly competent, successful, and resilient physicians by providing broad based foundational training and opportunities to acquire all the skills needed to ultimately become excellent Internal Medicine Physicians that will serve a diverse patient population in our community. As a resident in our program, you will receive comprehensive, mentorship-driven training focused on internal medicine. We recognize that choosing a residency program is a significant decision. We will begin accepting applications for our new internal medicine program in September 2024 using the Electronic Residency Application Service “ERAS” System. In the meantime, we appreciate your interest and look forward to welcoming you to this transformative journey soon.
