Maternity Orientation and Tour

If you’re nervous about giving birth, come and see what we have to offer at Memorial Hospital. Attending our Maternity Orientation and Tour allows time to ask questions about policies and options open to you. A tour of the maternal child health area of the hospital will be given. Attending this class early in pregnancy will allow time to learn about our hospital as well as attend other prenatal courses offered.

All tours include Labor and Delivery triage, Labor and Delivery birthing suites, the postpartum room where patients will be transferred 1-2 hours after delivery, and information about how Memorial Hospital ensures that mom and baby are provided with exceptional care the moment they arrive at our hospital for delivery.

You're welcome to bring a support person(s) with you to this tour. In fact, we encourage all persons who will be supporting our parents to attend the tour.

Preparing for Labor and Birth

Memorial Hospital’s Birth and Parenting classes are a free four-week series of classes that provides the mother-to-be and her support person with information on what to anticipate during labor and birth. The course is taught by certified childbirth instructors and covers many aspects of pregnancy, the process of birth, a variety of coping techniques to meet the concerns of parents expecting a baby, as well as breastfeeding and mother and baby postpartum care.

To assure a place in these classes, we encourage registering before or during the fifth month of pregnancy.

Our labor and birth classes are free. Please dress comfortably for each class.

Upcoming Dates

Classes usually begin the first Monday of each month and run once per week (Mondays) for four weeks (exceptions include holidays and classroom conflicts). They are held from 6-8 PM in Founders Hall at Memorial Hospital.

For more information or to register, please call our Maternal Child Coordinator at 661.426.1688
