Alzheimer’s Association® Education Programs

The Alzheimer’s Association® offers a range of awareness and caregiver skill-building classes. These classes, hosted by Mercy Medical Center, aim to help caregivers feel more prepared to handle the challenges that come with caring for someone living with dementia.

Asthma Program

Designed to assist individuals with asthma to increase their understanding about the condition and coping skills.

Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP)

This is a six-week workshop that teaches you how to live a healthy life with chronic conditions. Examples of chronic conditions include diabetes, asthma, COPD, back pain, arthritis, hypertension, bronchitis, heart disease, and more.  This program is also available in Spanish.

Freedom from Smoking™ Quit Clinic

Freedom from Smoking ™ Quit Clinic, also known as smoking cessation, is open to anyone that wants to quit tobacco use. This program is a collaboration with the American Lung Association. This is a no cost, 7 week program that meets 1.5 hours each week for a total of 8 times. It is taught by a certified Freedom From Smoking facilitator. In this program you will learn about the benefits of quitting smoking and gain valuable knowledge and skills in order to plan YOUR quit date. Participants will be offered a kit of helpful resources to guide them in their journey to a tobacco-free lifestyle

My Body, My Health Program - STD Prevention

This program covers all aspects of maintaining a healthy body and relationships with their partner(s) to prevent and treat sexually transmitted infections and diseases (STIs & STDs).

Zumba

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music combined with dance fitness moves to create a dynamic and effective cardiovascular and toning workout. Join the party! Make Zumba a part of your lifestyle. Wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes.

Zumba is co-sponsored by the City of Merced’s Recreation Department.

Yoga

Accessible Yoga 

Exercise accommodates individuals regardless of ability or background. Through the use of props, breathing techniques, and body awareness we welcome all bodies into this gentle all levels environment.

Perinatal Yoga - pre & post delivery

Perinatal Yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. This class can improve sleep, mood, pelvic floor strength, well-being, and overall preparation for childbirth. Through modified postures, and body awareness, yoga asana is used to discover coping skills before, during, and after pregnancy in this class.

Yoga 

Yoga is a group exercise program led by an instructor guiding you towards  relaxation to support mindfulness of breath and body. The mindful poses  focus on stretching, strengthening, postural alignment, relaxation, and  breathing to help increase physical well-being and psychological balance.  Join us each week to learn yoga postures and gentle moving sequences.
