Interpreter Services
Because our community and patient population are so diverse, Mercy Medical Center provides interpreter services in many languages in several different ways.
Please notify your nurse or any staff member if you or your family members need interpreting services. Our interpreting services are free. Below are several different methods of interpretation that we offer at Mercy Medical Center.
Interpreters
We have interpreters available in the hospital for Spanish and Hmong speaking patients. We also use Interpreters for Laos, Portuguese, Mien, and Punjabi, available through United Way of Merced.
CyraCom Telephone
The CyraCom Telephone Interpreter Service is the blue phone available in every room. This system includes interpreters for over 200 languages and is available 24 hours a day over the phone.
Video Remote Interpretation (VRI)
Our VRI cart is a video-telecommunication service that uses a laptop to provide sign language interpreting services through live video. Video remote interpretation for American Sign Language (ASL) allows our staff the ability to have immediate communication with a Deaf and Hard of Hearing patient.
