We want to help you maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle after you've had a heart attack and no longer require hospitalization. That’s why Mercy Medical Center has affiliated heart specialists available to help you continue on the path to better heart health in our cardiac rehabilitation center.

How do you qualify for Cardiac Rehabilitation?
If you have one of the following diagnoses, you may be a candidate to participate in cardiac rehab:
- Angina (chest pain due to clogged arteries
- Coronary artery angioplasty or stents
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Heart transplantation
- Open heart surgery (such as coronary bypass or valve surgery
To be enrolled, you and your doctor must decide that Cardiac Rehab will benefit you. Your commitment to the program includes attending exercise classes about three times each week, for a duration of one to three months.
Services
- EKG-monitored exercise
- Cardiac risk factor modification
- Diet instruction
- Long term maintenance exercise program
Present at each session are cardiac rehabilitation staff members including a respiratory care practitioner, an RN with certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. A doctor is also available onsite as part of the program as needed. Your doctor will be regularly informed of your progress in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.
