St. Joseph's Cancer Awareness Day

St. Joseph's Medical Center will host a Cancer Awareness Day on Wednesday, October 12 with free festivities open to the community throughout the day.

The event will include a health fair, open house and tours of St. Joseph's Cancer Institute, and a special evening presentation focused on cancer survivorship. 

Cancer Health Fair
9-3:30 p.m. | St. Joseph's Main Lobby

Learn what you can do to actively promote wellness for yourself and those you love, including:

  • Cancer risks, screenings and prevention
  • Diet, exercise, blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass measurements  
  • Cancer treatment, genetic counseling, and cancer survivorship education
  • Wellness programs such as Tai Chi, Yoga, and Meditation

Our Cancer Navigator will also be available during the fair to answer cancer related questions. 

Cancer Institute Open House 
4-5:30 p.m. | Cancer Institute

Join us for refreshments and tours of our nationally-recognized Cancer Institute and discover "what goes on" in cancer treatment.  The 10-minute tours will include information on radiation therapy and a question and answer session. 

Cancer Survivorship 
SPECIAL PRESENTATION

6-7:30 p.m. | St. Joseph's Auditorium
Presenter: Angela Laffan, NP, Gastrointestinal Oncology 
UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

Come learn about issues related to long-term cancer survivorship, including neuropathy, fatigue, cognitive changes, and sleep disorders. We'll also discuss tools for positive living as a cancer survivor.
