Program Leadership

Abdalhai Alshoubi, MDA Welcome Letter from our Program Director

The Anesthesiology Residency Program at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center is an ACGME-accredited four-year post-graduate training program. Our goals are to provide our residents with the training to become respected physician consultants that provide safe, high-quality anesthetic care to the medically underserved and culturally diverse communities of the California Central Valley.

Our program takes a holistic approach to resident development, balancing academic achievement with personal development in the principles of communication, professionalism, patient safety, and empathy to help them become well-rounded physicians.

We aim to provide our residents with a wealth of knowledge in clinical anesthesiology and its subspecialties, providing a foundation for success upon graduation. Our program incorporates several out-rotations for subspecialty care at hospitals in the local area, providing experience in a wide variety of practice settings and networking opportunities.

Our department is highly encouraging of research and leadership activities. We encourage our residents to be involved in research projects and initiatives both locally and nationally. Our residents have also been very engaged with state and national professional organizations, and often attend these conferences for professional development during their training.

I would also like to mention the outstanding faculty at our program who bring exceptional clinical skills and a strong commitment to resident education. Our faculty members are always available to provide residents with mentorship and guide them through their residency training, and their careers beyond!

We genuinely appreciate your interest and consideration of our program and extend a warm welcome to come join us here in the Central Valley.

Interim Program Director
