Urology Residency Program


Join an Exciting and Innovative Urology Program in California’s Northern Central Valley!

The St. Joseph's Medical Center Urology Residency Training Program welcomed its first batch of two residents in the summer of 2022. Our program is part of a multi-year effort to expand Graduate Medical Education at St. Joseph's Medical Center.  Our Urology Residency Program features high-volume, multi-diverse and complex patients across our 355-bed facility that has been serving our community since 1899.

Urology residents' primary experience will be at the St. Joseph's Medical Center serving the diverse patient population. The program provides an excellent and diverse training environment in the heart of California's Central Valley.

Our Urology Residency Program’s affiliation with the Touro University Medical Group’s Stockton Clinic has grown our range of care into the patient population that needs us most. Other hallmarks of the St. Joseph's Urology Residency Program include collaboration with VA Northern California Health Care System, Mather, CA, Sutter Medical Plaza, Stockton, CA, Kaiser Permanente, Roseville, CA., and Kaiser Foundation Hospital/Medical Center, Central Valley, Manteca/Modesto, CA.

Providing a unique learning opportunity for residents and research projects benefits to patient care.

There are plenty of fun and exciting things to do in Stockton and the surrounding area to include:

Stockton is centrally located:

Yosemite National Park is only a 2.5-hour drive from Stockton. Full of fun action, adventure, relaxation, hiking, climbing, dining and lodging.

Lake Tahoe
is only a 1.5-hour drive from Stockton. Whether it's winter, spring, summer or fall, there's always skiing, alpine slides, hiking, beaches and boating adventures.

The San Francisco Bay Area is only a 1.5-hour drive from Stockton. The main attractions are Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Oracle Park, the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre and Golden Gate Park. Downtown attractions include the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum, the Mystic Theatre, and the Military Antiques and Museum and the famous Fisherman’s wharf. Also home of the San Francisco Giant Baseball Club.

Lodi is less than a 15-minute drive from Stockton.  Home to exceptional vineyards, wine tasting and craft breweries. Historical Museums and Micke Grove Zoo. Lodi Lake is a beautiful lake with a beach and picnic areas, swimming, walking trails, kayaking, boating and fishing.

Sierra Foothills is only a 40-minute drive from Stockton and are full of beautiful wildflowers, warm nights, hiking, art galleries, museums, golfing, skiing, fishing, sledding, beautiful lakes, whitewater rafting, food and wine tasting, and the “Famous Frog Jump”.

Residents will find a very welcoming and caring family of faculty and staff at St. Joseph's Medical Center Urology Residency Program. The unique combination of a busy urban hospital with academic ties surrounded by a relatively rural and under-served community yields excellent patient care experiences.
