Congressman Salud Carbajal recognized the Dignity Health OB/GYN for her extensive contributions to the Central Coast community

Elaine Yin, MD, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Santa Maria Women's Health Center which is part of Dignity Health's clinic network, Pacific Central Coast Health Centers, has been named a 2024 Congressional Woman of the Year by Congressman Salud Carbajal.

"This is a very meaningful honor to be named Congressional Woman of the Year in Health Care,” Dr. Yin said. “The culmination of my career in obstetrics and gynecology has led me to serve our community and future generations by helping to develop and grow the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Marian Regional Medical Center with the vital support of the administration and the community at large. It is a privilege to be working in Santa Maria with this mission and I'm humbled by this special recognition."

With over two decades of community service, Dr. Yin pioneered the OB/GYN Residency Program at Marian Regional Medical Center. The program, which hosts 12 residents, has improved women's health care accessibility in Santa Barbara County. Her advocacy extends to underserved populations, particularly the Mixteco people, showcasing her commitment to cultural understanding.

“This year's recipients of the Women of the Year Award are making exceptional strides to improve the quality of life on the Central Coast,” Congressman Carbajal said. “Their remarkable efforts often go unnoticed, yet they continue to make a significant impact. It is my honor to highlight these six extraordinary women for their contributions to our community. This year has been exceptionally competitive, with nearly 100 nominations spanning across our region. I feel honored to have received numerous remarkable stories of service and dedication and I look forward to honoring and celebrating each of these women!”
