Dignity Health Central Coast Provides $370,796 in Grant Funding to Community Non-Profit Organizations
The grants help provide critical health and human services to San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County residents
CENTRAL COAST, CA – January 12, 2022 – Dignity Health Central Coast is proud to announce it has awarded $370,796 in funding to six unique community non-profit partnerships in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County. Representatives from each organization were invited to a virtual award ceremony to acknowledge their service in providing critical health and human services to San Luis and Santa Barbara County residents.
Grants are awarded through a Community Grants Program created by the Dignity Health parent company CommonSpirit Health. The intent of the annual community grant program is to help non-profit organizations with an interest in building healthier communities by improving health and living conditions. Criteria for this funding cycle were based on the following priority areas identified in the hospitals Community Benefits Report and Plan and Community Health Needs Assessment: Educational Attainment (Santa Barbara County), Access to Primary Care including Behavioral Health, Access to Dental Health (SLO County) and Aging, more Mature Population, and Chronic Disease Prevention and Management.
This year, the Dignity Health Community Grants were awarded to the following local six Accountable Care Communities:
A-G for All!
Program Description: This accountable care community, made up of six nonprofit organizations, is seeking to facilitate higher education attainment through youth leadership and advocacy.
Fiscal Agent: Future Leaders of America, Inc. (FLA)
Senior and Caregiver Support
Program Description: This accountable care community, made up of five non-profit organizations, will work together to provide a whole person approach to services for vulnerable seniors and their family/friend caregivers in North Santa Barbara County
Fiscal Agent: Family Service Agency of Santa Barbara County
Basic Needs and Resources for Vulnerable Seniors
Program Description: This accountable care community, made up of four non-profit organizations, will create a caring network of social services for poor and vulnerable aging populations through the Los Oso Cares Senior Outreach Program.

Community resources Dental Care Access and Services Expansion for Uninsured and Underinsured Adults
Project Description: This accountable care community, made up of four nonprofit organizations, will provide comprehensive dental care and a dental care home to uninsured and low income adults; provide dental crown/implant services not covered by Medi-Cal to underinsured and low-income adults
Fiscal Agent: SLO Noor Foundation
MARBLE: Multi-tiered Youth Mental Wellness Project
Project Description: The Community Counseling Center (CCC), with the help of three other nonprofit organizations, seeks to address the critical mental health needs of youth and families in San Luis Obispo County by implementing the first ever multi-tiered student mental wellness program in San Luis Obispo County.

Santa Maria Stabilization Center Project
Project Description: Good Samaritan Shelter is collaborating with three other non-profit organizations as it will fully staff and offer program support for the Stabilization Center that will serve chronically homeless individuals with substance abuse, medical and legal complications. The Santa Maria Stabilization Center is a safe place, staffed with both medical and peer support, for homeless individuals to sober up and stabilize.
