Nipomo High School Girls’ Basketball Team Raises Nearly $2,500 for Local Cancer Patients at Hoops for Hope Event
ARROYO GRANDE, CA – March 12, 2019 – The 7th annual Hoops for Hope event hosted by the Nipomo High School Girls’ Basketball Team raised $2,482 to support a spectrum of cancer care services at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH).
The team celebrated a 63 – 33 victory over Santa Maria High School at the event, which included a silent auction, bake sale, tee shirt sales and ticket sales to raise funds. This year, the team wore teal socks specifically to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. The Hoops for Hope event supports cancer-related causes each year.
The newly expanded cancer care services at AGCH provide treatment and infusion in a space completely dedicated to recovery and education with ten infusion chairs and a private room. The cancer care team consists of highly-skilled oncologists, an oncology-certified nurse navigator, a dietitian, a social worker, and pharmacist. The services offered will be enhanced by a cancer resource center, a cancer rehabilitation program, and an appearance and image center, all free of charge for patients and their families.
Those would like to join in supporting local cancer patients can contact Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation at (805) 994-5421 or visit www.SupportArroyoGrande.org.
