Hearst Cancer Resource Center to Host a Conversation about Palliative Care: Living Well with Cancer
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – August 2, 2018 – French Hospital Medical Center’s Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) is pleased to be hosting a complimentary community symposium Living Well with Cancer: A Conversation about Palliative Care.
The class will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00p.m. on the third floor of the Copeland Health Education Pavilion, located on the French Hospital campus at 1911 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo. Space is limited and reservations are required by calling (805) 542-6234.
The event will combine the knowledge of local experts and teach attendees how to navigate through the palliative care process, as well as learn its role in providing comfort and improved quality of life at any age, and any stage, of cancer. The symposium will also cover what palliative care is, when to use it, and provide guidance in its practical application.
Palliative care is a specialized medical care that begins at the diagnosis of a serious illness and continues during treatment and beyond. For those with cancer, the goal of palliative care is to provide patients and their families with relief from the symptoms and side effects caused by treatment, and minimize the stress of the disease.
