Director's Message
Dear Applicants,
Thank you for considering the OB/GYN residency program at Marian Regional Medical Center. Our program is designed to provide learners with the fundamental knowledge, skill set, and experience to become excellent OB/GYN physicians. With the increasing shortage of women’s health care physicians, particularly in rural areas, we are committed to training the next generation of doctors to provide excellent women’s health care in all settings.
We have a particular focus on the care of underserved patients, as Santa Maria, California is designated as a health service shortage area. One of Marian Regional Medical Center’s core values is to serve the poor and disenfranchised, and this priority is reflected in how we train our students and residents. We are looking for resident physicians who identify with this mission-driven approach to health care.
Marian Regional Medical Center also demonstrates a deep commitment to resident physician wellness. We have developed a longitudinal wellness program, incorporating evidence-based approaches, to help residents develop resiliency, stress reduction, and healthy habits for their long-term career success and longevity. We are also one of two OB/GYN Residency programs in the country that offer formal training in Integrative Medicine as part of the curriculum.
While Marian Regional Medical Center is a community-based program, we have a wide breadth of gynecologic surgery, outpatient experience, and high risk pregnancy care. As the only hospital in Santa Maria, we take care of the majority of high-risk women over a large service area.
We are committed to training clinicians with the skills necessary to become leaders in education, patient advocacy, community outreach, quality improvement, wellness, and clinical excellence. We welcome your application to our residency program, and look forward to mentoring the next generation of physicians to achieve individual professional goals as well as fulfill our broader mission of providing excellent patient care on the Central Coast.
Warm Regards,
