Dr. Stephanie Lin has been the OB/GYN Residency Program Director since 2020. Dr. Lin grew up on the Central Coast of California. She received her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, her MD from Weill Cornell Medical College, and her Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from the University of Utah. She did her residency in OB/GYN at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center and fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at University of Utah Health Science Center. In addition to serving as the OB/GYN Residency Program Director she is an active Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician taking care of women with high risk pregnancies.

She is a clinical herbalist and registered yoga instructor, and holds a B.S. in Nutrition Science. She speaks nationally on women's integrative medicine, and her research interests include women's integrative and lifestyle medicine topics, quality improvement, and patient and clinician education. Dr. Tammela practiced for 13 years in Green Bay, WI, where he established the first gynecologic oncology program in Northeast Wisconsin. Dr. Tammela is a trailblazer in his field, having established the first full time Robotic Gynecologic Oncology program in Northeast Wisconsin over 10 years ago, when robotic surgery was just beginning to show clinical promise in surgical cancer care. In recognition of Dr. Tammela’s intense dedication to women’s cancer care during his many years in the Green Bay community, he won a number of awards, including the “Living the Mission Award” at St Vincent Hospital for commitment to excellence, and the “Innovator of the Year Award,” given by the Green Bay Business Journal in recognition of Dr. Tammela as an innovator in cancer treatment and robotic minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Crisp was double trained in both Family Medicine and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prior to his second residency in OB/GYN, Dr. Crisp taught Family Medicine at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. While Chief of OB/GYN at Fort Carson, Colorado, he was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After almost thirty years of service, Dr. Crisp retired from the U.S. Army. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of OB/GYN while caring for an underserved population on New Zealand’s northeast coast for almost two and a half years. Since joining our team at Marian, Dr. Crisp has continued training OB/GYN and Family Medicine residents, and has served as the liaison between our two departments.

She has worked and volunteered internationally in several countries, including with Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria. Since 2016, she has directed a program with nomads in Niger to reduce maternal mortality. Together with leadership from Family Medicine, Drs. Jones and Crisp are working to establish an ongoing relationship with a medical mission in Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico.

I returned to my hometown of Santa Maria to practice OB/GYN with my father, the late Dr. John Karamitsos. Since 2004, my career has been focused on gynecology with both clinical and surgical private practice. I have worked as an OB/GYN hospitalist at MRMC since 2010. I am now serving in the residency program for teaching gynecologic clinical practice and surgery as well as inpatient obstetrics.

Dr. Jade Mas is a Board Certified specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. It is her mission to provide quality healthcare for all women. To improve access for women, Dr. Mas supervises residents in the clinic, working collaboratively with Family Medicine residents as well as OBGYN residents, as they are the future colleagues. She practices and teaches the skills to take time with each patient, aiming for each person to walk away fully understanding what is happening, and why. He has also served as volunteer faculty at Stanford University as the resident supervising attending for labor and delivery. At Dignity Health, Dr. Shields is the Director of Perinatal Services at Marian as well as the Medical Director of Perinatal Safety, overseeing patient safety and quality for the 29 maternity hospitals within Dignity Health. He has served as member of the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC), serving on the following committees: Pregnancy-Related and Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (CA-PAMR), Maternal Hemorrhage Taskforce, and the Preeclampsia Taskforce as co-chair. He has over 20 years of experience as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist with a strong commitment to optimizing maternal and fetal outcomes, especially in pregnancies complicated by maternal medical or abnormal fetal conditions.
