Donation from Grower-Shipper Association and Driscoll’s funds car seats for NICU families at Marian Regional Medical Center
SANTA MARIA, CA – June 19, 2024 – The Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation held a check presentation Wednesday to commemorate a matching donation totaling $10,000 to procure car seats for underserved families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Marian Regional Medical Center.
The Grower-Shipper Association of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties took the lead in organizing a matching gift campaign with their partners. Their commitment to supporting local health care initiatives was evident when they donated $5,000 to the Marian Foundation.
This recent initiative garnered a notable response, including a $5,000 contribution from Driscoll’s, one of the world’s largest sellers of berries, through the matching gift opportunity initiated by the Grower-Shipper Association.
Together, these efforts demonstrate a powerful commitment to improving health care access and resources for vulnerable communities in our region.
“The thing that’s so great about this community is the support that we get and how we all work together to make things happen,” said Sue Andersen, the President and CEO of Marian Regional Medical Center. “We appreciate the partnerships that we have within the agriculture community, including the Grower-Shipper Association and Driscoll’s. We’re proud to be partners with them.”
The special check presentation provided an opportunity to express gratitude to all parties involved in facilitating this impactful donation.
“Marian serves a very important regional role in providing health care for our community and our farm-working families,” said Claire Wineman, the President of the Grower-Shipper Association. “We appreciate Marian for communicating this important need for our community and the opportunity to support our families.
“We’d like to thank our members for their support of this donation. The association identified this as a great opportunity and we’d like to thank Driscoll’s for matching our donation and increasing the reach of this opportunity.”
A few of the recently purchased NICU car seats were on display Wednesday during the check presentation.
Marian’s 21-bed, Community (Level III) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the most sophisticated and technologically-advanced Unit in the region, providing exceptional care to the tiniest of patients.
