St. John’s Regional Medical Center to Offer Free Class Designed to Help Persons with GERD

Physician led class will cover GERD education and awareness
OXNARD, CA – (March 20, 2018) – St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC), a Dignity Health hospital is pleased to offer a free community health education class on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) — a common digestive condition that is often associated with acid reflux.

The class will be led by family medicine doctor, Shahram Fatemi, MD on Thursday, April 5 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Center at SJRMC (1600 N. Rose Ave. in Oxnard). The objective of the class is to promote greater awareness of GERD. The session will cover signs and symptoms, importance of screening and treatment options for those suffering with GERD.

GERD is a common digestive disease, which is characterized by recurrent symptoms like heartburn and acid regurgitation. If left untreated, it can cause damage of esophagus and more serious complications such as scarring and narrowing of the esophagus.
