Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
The outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program at St. John's hospitals offers individualized exercise and educational programs for people who have had a recent heart attack, heart surgery, or have experienced other cardiovascular incidents.
Our cardiac rehabilitation program is conveniently located at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard. The facility features a full-spectrum of equipment, overlooking the beautiful view of St. John’s Healing Garden. Our goal is to increase our patient's fitness level and encourage lifestyle adjustments to control ongoing risk factors for heart disease. Our program is a safe way to help you feel better faster, get stronger, manage stress, reduce the risk of future heart problems, and promote an understanding of heart disease.
What We Offer
Our team works with the referring doctor to evaluate each patient's needs, establish goals, and coordinate an effective heart health treatment program, including:
- Telemetry monitored exercise
- Emphasis on improving cardiovascular fitness
- Strengthening program
- Individualized home exercise program
- Education to reduce risk factors
- Education to assist with lifestyle changes
Patients typically visit three times per week, each visit lasting approximately one hour, for three to four months.
Diagnoses We Treat
St. John’s cardiac rehabilitation program specializes in treating patients affected by:
- Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
- Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
- Valve repair and/or replacement
- Heart transplant
- Congestive heart failure
- PTCA with or without stent

Maintenance Program
After completion of our program, patients may use our maintenance program for continuation of supervised exercise aimed at maintaining consistent, healthy lifestyle habits. This service is available two to three times a week for a nominal fee.
Heart Fitness Program
The Heart Fitness Program consists of three phases. Phase one involves inpatient teaching designed to minimize risk factors for heart disease and to increase heart health. Phase two is an outpatient program that entails close monitoring, education, and exercise. Phase three is an ongoing outpatient treatment plan where patients benefit from continued exercise at St. John's for years to come.
