St. John's Regional Medical Center's team of renowned neurologists offers specialized care for neurological conditions and disorders. Designated as a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Ventura County, St. John's Regional Medical Center is equipped to treat complex conditions affecting the brain with the most advanced technologies. Patients at our award-winning medical center benefit from our team approach to care, including interdisciplinary collaboration among neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, acute rehabilitation specialists, and specially trained nurses. As a leader in neurological care, St. John's Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in the area with a Biplane Neuroangiography System, and O-Arm Surgical Imaging System.
St. John’s Neuroscience Center of Excellence is a well-regarded program, in particular for the treatment of stroke. To continue providing the best care to the residents of Ventura County and beyond, we have expanded our program by adding a world class neuro-interventional biplane angiography system, as well as additional program enhancements to perform brain clot removal, aneurysm repair, carotid artery stenting, advanced brain and tumor removal and intracranial hemorrhage stoppage.
St. John’s Regional Medical Center's Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center offers patients a broad continuum of care from Emergency Department treatment to in-house acute rehabilitation.
In order to provide advance, comprehensive care for stroke patients, the stroke team includes:
The team also relies on the excellent services of the Dignity Health pharmacy, Laboratory, and the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
St John’s Regional Medical Center is proud to be the first hospital in the greater North LA/Ventura area to adopt the CELT ACD® vascular closure system.
CELT ACD® is the world’s first and only technology designed to help close blood vessels after angiograms. This means that patients can sit up and walk around right after their procedure. At St. John's, patients who have minimally invasive neuro endovascular procedures can often go home in just 30 minutes, instead of having to recover for 4-6 hours, which is standard practice at other hospitals.
“This is truly the first differentiated (femoral) closure technology in design and performance I’ve ever experienced…the ability to discharge femoral access patients in less than an hour without any flat-time is absolutely game changing," says Dr. Akinwunmi Oni-Orisan, Medical Director of Neurointerventional Surgery.
In addition to an experienced team, Dignity Health St. John’s Regional Medical Center offers cutting-edge technology to deliver the best possible care. Our biplane systems enable us to provide complete diagnostic and innovative interventional treatment of the brain and spine.
St. John's Regional Medical is home to the only O-arm Surgical Imaging System, in Ventura County, with the most advanced 3D imaging system available for brain and spine surgery. With the O-arm, we provide our community with local access to leading-edge, less invasive neurosurgery, a great benefit to you and your loved ones.
DBS is a surgical option for patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other movement disorders. DBS uses electrical signals targeting specific areas in the brain to control movement disorder symptoms. Now, St. John's Regional Medical Center makes it easier and faster for potential candidates to be seen by providing medical evaluation, psychological assessment, imaging, surgery, and post-surgical monitoring in one convenient location.
It is important for each athlete to know the signs and symptoms of a concussion and a potentially dangerous brain injury as well as the steps in the recovery process and in making a return-to-play decision. The Dignity Health Concussion Network is here to help every student athlete play safely.
We are pleased to announce that St. John's Regional Medical Center is proud to be the first hospital in the area to offer the Pipeline Flex to help treat certain patients with intracranial aneurysms. This minimally invasive procedure is utilized in selected wide-necked intracranial aneurysm treatments, which diverts flow away from the aneurysm neck, reconstructs the parent artery, and restores its natural course.
