Monarch Village Health Center

At Monarch Village Health Center in Nipomo our experienced team of Primary Care Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers offer diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, the management of long term, acute and chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, hypothyroidism and heart disease. We offer guidance on preventative care, immunization, health maintenance with patient education and screening programs for a better quality of life. 

Meet our Expert Team

Richard Day, MD

Richard Day, MD – Family Medicine

Dr. Day has practiced Family Medicine for more than 35 years. He did his Undergraduate training at Stanford, and earned his MD degree from Case Western Reseruve University School of Medicine. He was Chief Resident of his Family Practice Residency Program at The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.

Dr. Day returned to Stanford to work at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation and taught residents at the School of Medicine, and served as an Attending Physician at the Stanford University Medical Center and the San Jose Residency Program. 

He also served as one of the team physicians for the San Francisco Giants and 49'ers. He has completed several marathons, including Denver, Cleveland, San Francisco, and Boston.

 Dr. Day is part of the Nipomo community and enjoys the opportunity to be of service to his friends and neighbors.

Nancy Kitson, MD

Nancy Kitson, MD – Family Medicine

Dr. Kitson is a board certified Family Medicine Physician who earned her medical degree from The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in New Hampshire. She completed an Internal Medicine internship at Oregon Health Sciences University and a Family Medicine Residency from University of Utah

She was employed by the US Indian Health Service for 25 years caring for Apaches and Navajos in the Southwest Four Corners area and the last 10 years have been spent caring for Navajo elders in clinic and nursing homes

 Dr. Kitson specializes in Geriatric Medicine and enjoys caring for older patients. She is available for Medicare Initial Preventive Physical Exams (IPPE), Medicare Annual Wellness visits (AWV), medication management, skin biopsies, lesion destructions and trigger point injections

She has lived, worked and raised her family in Colorado but she is a California native and happy to be back home.

Mary Cryer, NP

Mary Cryer, NP

Mary Cryer is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner working as Primary Care Provider with Dignity Health Clinic for the past 7 years.

She completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at Frontier Nursing University, Kentucky in 2015. Prior to obtaining her Family Nurse Practitioner degree, she worked in various hospitals as a certified orthopedic nurse. She is an active member of American Association of Nurse Practitioners and she is also a preceptor for various Universities with Nurse Practitioner Program. 

She is married with 3 adult children. They moved to the Central Coast in 2012 from the Midwest.

Mary enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, glamping and traveling.

Mary is known for her compassion, patient centered and high quality care to the patients she serves in the community.

Ashley Wells, NP

As a new Nurse Practitioner entering Primary Care, Ashley Wells, NP is passionate about preventative medicine and health promotion. She wishes to empower her patients to take an active role in their healthcare journey, with collaboration and mutual respect and trust.

She is committed to staying abreast of the latest advancements in healthcare and dedicated to delivering evidence-based practice with a focus on holistic wellness.

Wells has a deep-seated belief in the importance of advocacy and patient education and she strives to make a positive impact on the lives she will be serving in her community.
