Treatment of traumatic brain injuries
Your neurologist at Dignity Health will oversee your TBI care and recommend treatment options. Specific treatments vary and depend on the extent of brain damage. A mild TBI concussion may giving the brain a short break from minor activities, such as reading.
Treatment for more severe TBI focuses on rehabilitation. There is no way to reverse brain damage. Treatment may also include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and psychotherapy.
To reduce your risk of experiencing TBI, use protective gear to safeguard your head. This includes wearing seat belts, bike helmets, and other equipment designed to prevent brain injury. You also can reduce your risk of TBI due to falls by wearing stable shoes, ad using assistive devices such as canes or walkers if you have balance problems, and being careful when climbing ladders.
Dignity Health has multidisciplinary teams that provide personalized care for people with traumatic brain injury in Arizona, California, and Nevada.
