Theodore Shea

I like to practice medicine alongside the Golden Rule: treat people the way I would like to be treated. I evaluate my patients' needs as individuals, address their concerns, and if I can't take care if them, get them to someone who can. It's not about me - it's about them, always.

Gaurav Wahi

I cannot remember ever wanting to be anything but a doctor.  I love being a specialized physician, and the highly personal nature of women's health makes the OB/GYN-Patient relationship very unique.  I love being able to offer the best and most ideal care to all of my patients.

I hope to be the local OB/GYN who delivers mom and then, further down the road, sees "baby" as a patient for annual exams and then, possibly, prenatal care of her own.  I also want to be the go-to provider for women's health and gynecological care for women of all ages.

I treat my patients as I would expect to be treated if I were the patient.  Being able to take care of the whole family, from pregnancy to delivery and then beyond means so much to me.

Dignity Health midwives

At Dignity Health Medical Foundation, our midwives are certified nurse midwives (CNM), registered nurses who have completed a midwifery program and passed a national certification exam.

Why choose a nurse midwife?

Midwives provide care for uncomplicated pregnancies and births. They consider pregnancy and childbirth normal, natural events that don't require routine medical intervention. Many women choose midwives because they prefer a highly personalized approach to pregnancy, birth, and women's health care.

What to expect with a midwife

  • A pregnancy visit with a midwife often lasts longer than many routine health appointments. And midwives offer a highly individualized approach — they get to know your desires and specific needs. Midwives don't focus on just your pregnancy or health condition as isolated events. Instead, midwives consider them in the context of your life.
  • Midwives also educate and empower their patients by teaching them more about their bodies and explaining treatment options. When women are pregnant, midwives teach them how to work with their bodies during labor and birth to help ensure a smooth process.
  • According to research, women who use midwives for pregnancy care are less likely to need pain medication (such as an epidural), more likely to move around during labor, and less likely to have a C-section.

Family medicine services

Family medicine is based on an ongoing, personal patient-physician relationship that is focused on integrated care. Family practice physicians are also referred to as primary care physicians (PCP) general practitioners and family medicine physicians.

The family practice physicians at Dignity Health Medical Groups provide complete care for your entire family, diagnosing and treating a variety of health conditions and diseases for patients of all ages. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, family practice physicians provide routine health screenings and preventive care to prevent illnesses before they develop. And, if a health condition arises that requires care from another specialist, your family physician will be there to guide you and to coordinate all aspects of your care.

Care when you need it

With clinics throughout California, a Dignity Health Medical Foundation physician is right around the corner, waiting to assist you along your wellness journey.
