Allergy and immunology services

Seasonal allergy symptoms aren't only a bother, but as allergy sufferers can attest, they're a huge hindrance to your everyday activities. During the Sacramento allergy season, watery eyes, sneezing, nasal congestion and wheezing can affect your ability to sleep, work and perform outdoor activities. Allergies can even lead to severe symptoms such as asthma.

Allergies occur when your body reacts to certain outside substances that trigger a reaction, or overreaction, from your immune system. Triggers can come from certain food, animals, or seasonal allergens including pollens, grass and molds. Allergy testing can determine what substances, animals and food your body is allergic to, allowing you to avoid an allergy attack before it happens.

If you suffer from asthma, allergy help is a necessity. Opt for Sacramento allergy testing, and find out what allergens trigger your asthma attacks.

Audiology services

Audiology is a specialty that provides a wide range of diagnostic testing to determine the type and degree of hearing loss for patients of all ages. Mercy Medical Group audiologists are licensed for dispensing and fitting hearing aids and assisted listening devices to our patients when needed.

They also refer to our Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat - ENT) physicians if medical conditions are present - giving our patients convenience and continuity of care.

Geriatric services

Geriatrics is a sub-specialty of internal medicine and family medicine that focuses on health care of elderly people. It aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities in older adults. There is no set age at which patients may be under the care of a geriatrician or geriatric physician, a physician who specializes in the care of elderly people. Rather, this decision is determined by the individual patient's needs, and the availability of a specialist.

Geriatrics differs from standard adult medicine because it focuses on the unique needs of the elderly person. The aged body is different physiologically from the younger adult body, and during old age, the decline of various organ systems becomes prominent. Previous health issues and lifestyle choices produce a different constellation of diseases and symptoms in different people. The appearance of symptoms depends on the remaining healthy reserves in the organs.

Internal medicine services

Internal medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, management and nonsurgical treatment of unusual or serious diseases. Often the single point of contact for condition management, internal medicine providers have the knowledge to diagnose, treat, and prevent the entire range of diseases that affect patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric care. Our expert team of internal medicine physicians at Dignity Health Medical Foundation will be right by your side every step of the way.

Nephrology services

Nephrology is a branch of internal medicine and pediatrics dealing with the study of the function and diseases of the kidney. Nephrology concerns the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases, including electrolyte disturbances and hypertension, and the care of those requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and renal transplant patients. Many diseases affecting the kidney are systemic disorders not limited to the organ itself, and may require special treatment.

Neurology services

We provide the Greater Sacramento region with advanced neurology care. Our team of neurologists, all members of the Dignity Health Neurological Institute of Northern California, are regional leaders in stroke care, treating the highest volume of neurovascular patients in the Greater Sacramento region. Our patients benefit from our dedicated team approach. That means you have a team of neurologists working together to manage your care, coordinating with other specialists for the best possible treatment.

Physical medicine & rehabilitation services

A rehabilitation physician, or physiatrist, is a medical doctor who has completed residency training in the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). They specialize in diseases of the nerve, muscle, bone and brain. Physiatrists diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses that affect how you move or think. Their comprehensive approach to patient care looks at the whole person and not just one symptom or condition. Physiatrists do not perform surgery.

Mercy Medical Group’s physical medicine & rehabilitation patients benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach. Our rehabilitation physicians work closely with pain management specialists, taking advantage of different approaches in an effort to control pain while optimizing function. They also work with other specialists and primary care physicians to promote each patient’s well-being.
