Medicare Advantage enrollment
Whether you’ll soon be turning 65 or preparing for Medicare annual enrollment, we’re here to help. Medicare plans change every year, so understanding your options and benefits is important.
Turning 65 and new to medicare?
You have important choices to make—and steps to take. Be sure to choose a Medicare plan that gives you easy access to Woodland Clinic doctors. You can continue to receive the outstanding care and expertise you’re accustomed to from doctors who truly know and care about you.
Original Medicare doesn’t cover everything: Medicare Parts A and B help cover your doctor and hospital costs—but you could still have thousands of dollars in medical bills to pay from your own pocket. A Medicare supplement or Medicare Advantage plan can help protect you against high medical costs. Medicare supplement plans give you more choices, but may cost more. Medicare Advantage plans may have lower costs and give you all-in-one convenience and coordinated care.

Medicare annual enrollment period
Medicare annual enrollment typically runs October through December of each calendar year. For most people, this is your only opportunity to choose or change your Medicare health plan.
Medicare Advantage plans
Get more simplicity and savings, while keeping the doctors you trust. Many people choose a Medicare Advantage plan for convenience, coverage, and cost savings. Medicare Advantage plans from Health Net, UnitedHealthcare, and Anthem Blue Cross give you continued access to Woodland Clinic doctors.
Also known as Medicare Part C, Medicare Advantage plans combine comprehensive coverage into one easy-to-use plan and usually provide more coverage than Original Medicare alone.
Some Medicare Advantage plans also include dental, vision, and hearing benefits. These all-in-one plans help simplify Medicare and may cost less than other options.
In addition to providing more benefits than Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans deliver care in a different way. Unlike Original Medicare’s fee-for-service approach, Medicare Advantage plans work like a familiar HMO or PPO plan. Preventive services are emphasized and your primary care doctor manages your care.
Data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) shows that this proactive, managed-care approach can be good for patients.
Compared to fee-for-service patients, Medicare Advantage patients:**
- Are more likely to receive preventive care
- Are less likely to go to the emergency room
- Have fewer disease-specific complications
- Have shorter hospital stays and fewer readmissions
Medicare Advantage plans can also be very cost-effective.
We partner with Medicare health plans that offer:
- Monthly plan premiums as low as $0
- Prescription drug copays as low as $0†
- Copays as low as $0 to see your primary care doctor
- Copays as low as $10 for specialist visits
- Gym membership included
