Dignity Health Hosts Summit for Community Health Workers
April 26 event will celebrate, educate, and inspire those who serve a critical role in our community’s health care continuum
LAS VEGAS, January 11, 2024 – Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Hospitals invites professional Community Health Workers from across southern Nevada to take part in an in-person education and recharge event, April 26 at San Martin Hospital. The experience is free of charge, but participation is limited to 50 attendees.
Community Health Workers (CHW) play an integral role in southern Nevada’s health care community, especially in health care access, but also providing myriad assistance to an unimaginably wide range of people in our community.
From the elderly and at-risk communities, to those in need of assistance managing chronic disease like dementia, diabetes, or cardiac conditions, CHWs are there to offer education, advice, and understanding. They can also be called to provide advice on many other topics, like diet and nutrition, prescription management, and guidance for pregnant women and new mothers on infant care, perinatal issues, and breastfeeding. CHWs are found wherever people need health care assistance.
“Like many careers in the healthcare profession, becoming a Community Health Worker is often a calling,” said Mark Domingo, Community Health Manager for Dignity Health Nevada. “We’ve planned April 26 as a day of learning, networking, and inspiration. We look forward to sharing best practices and strategies among colleagues from across the valley, with hopes of improving healthcare access and outcomes for all of our clients.”
The Community Health Worker Summit will include engaging presentations, interactive workshops, and dynamic panel discussions.
Mr. Domingo added, “Participants will connect with fellow professionals and enhance their skills in the field of community health work. They will leave this experience with valuable insights and practical tools to make a difference in our community.
Don't miss this opportunity. Register now for a day of growth, collaboration, and empowerment.

About Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican:
Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican recently celebrated 75 years in southern Nevada, marking the anniversary of the arrival of the seven Adrian Dominican Sisters who founded Rose de Lima Hospital on June 27, 1947. As Nevada’s only not-for-profit, faith-based health system, St. Rose Dominican is still guided by the vision and core values of the Adrian Dominican Sisters in all its endeavors. As the Henderson and Las Vegas communities grow, the St. Rose Dominican health system and its nearly 4,000 employees continue the Sisters’ mission of serving people in need, especially the most vulnerable. Dignity Health currently operates three acute care hospitals in southern Nevada and is a member of the multi-state Dignity Health network of nearly 10,000 physicians, 60,000 employees, 41 acute care hospitals, and 400-plus care centers, including hospitals, urgent and occupational care, imaging centers, and primary care clinics.
