Faculty

Dr. Sharon Joo

Pediatric Hospitalist
DO, Western University of Osteopathic Medicine
MPH, Loma Linda University

Dr. Joo is originally from sunny Southern California, a proud Angeleno, who loves the melting pot of cultures and delicious foods. She completed her Masters in Public Health with an emphasis in Global Health from Loma Linda University. She worked on multiple projects such as assisting development of refugee camps and surveying health practices of migrant workers while living in Beijing, China. She then joined Claremont Graduate University School of Public Health as a Project Manager on multiple studies that involved the well-being of children. During this period, she rediscovered her love for clinical medicine and matriculated into Western University, School of Osteopathic Medicine. Afterwards, she completed her Pediatric residency at University of Nevada School of Medicine (now called UNLV School of Medicine)

Dr. Joo joined as a faculty member of Mercy Redding Family Practice Residency in 2016 and assumed the role of Pediatric Hospital Medicine Director with dreams of creating a department that provides quality evidence-based medical care for our most small and vulnerable patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Joo loves traveling the world on medical missions (most memorable trips were to Haiti and Cambodia), spending time with her family (husband and very energetic spunky daughter), and visiting the best dessert/pastry shops in every town she travels to.
