Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Redding Shines Purple for Elder Abuse Awareness Month

REDDING, Calif. (June 17, 2024) – Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Redding is proud to announce its participation in Elder Abuse Awareness Month this June in collaboration with our community partner, ShiningCare for Purple City Week. As part of our commitment to raising awareness and inspiring action within our community, our hospital will be illuminated in purple from June 17th to June 23rd. This special lighting serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and support our elderly population.

Elder abuse is a serious issue that affects millions of older adults each year, encompassing physical, emotional, and financial harm. Recognizing and addressing this issue is crucial to ensuring the well-being and dignity of our elders. By lighting our hospital in purple, we aim to shine a spotlight on this critical issue and encourage our community to take concrete steps toward creating a safer, more compassionate environment for our vulnerable elderly population.
