Mercy Medical Center Redding to Illuminate Blue and Green Lights for National Donate Life Month
Mercy Medical Center Redding joins National Donate Life Month in honoring organ donors and those awaiting transplants by illuminating blue and green lights.
REDDING, Calif. (April 4, 2025) — In observance of National Donate Life Month, Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Redding will illuminate blue and green lights during the month of April. The display aims to raise awareness about the critical need for organ donations and to honor the generosity of donors who have given the gift of life.
In 2024, Mercy Medical Center Redding made a remarkable impact through organ, eye and tissue donation. Thanks to the generosity of donors and the dedication of our healthcare teams, we have helped save and heal thousands of lives. Here’s a look at our 2024 donation impact:
- 14 people became organ donors, helping save lives.
- 26 organs were transplanted, giving recipients a second chance at life.
- 75 people donated tissue.
- Each tissue donor can help improve the lives of up to 120 people by providing skin, bone, and other tissues for medical treatments.
Through organ, eye, and tissue donations over 9,000 people benefited from these life-saving and life-enhancing gifts from Mercy Medical Center Redding in 2024.
According to Donor Network West, there are currently over 100,000 individuals on the national transplant waiting list. Tragically, 17 people die every day while waiting for a transplant and every 10 minutes another person is added to the national transplant wait list.
