Dignity Health Breaks Ground on Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center
State-of-the-Art Facility to Enhance Cancer Care Services Available to North State Communities
REDDING, Calif. (September 24, 2024) — Today, Dignity Health held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center in Redding, a $70 million state-of-the-art facility designed to bring comprehensive cancer care to Northern California. This cutting-edge facility will provide advanced cancer treatments to serve patients across the North State region and addresses the critical need for enhanced cancer care in our community.
"Today is a significant milestone in the advancement of cancer care for the North State," says Rodger Page, North State Market President. "The Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center will offer cutting-edge treatments all under one roof, a true reflection of the generosity and collaborative efforts of those committed to improving the health and well-being of Northern California."
The new Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center will consolidate all cancer services and treatments into one location, ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care within their own community. A wide range of services—including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, support groups and more—will be offered under one roof. This center will also serve as a catalyst for recruiting top oncologists to the region, further strengthening Dignity Health’s cancer care services for North State residents.
“Every aspect of the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center has been designed with the patient in mind,” says G. Todd Smith, President, Mercy Medical Center Redding. “From the welcoming and calming environment, to the thoughtfully designed spaces that promote healing, comfort, and privacy, our goal is to create a place where patients and their families feel supported and cared for throughout their journey.”
The new Cancer Center has received tremendous support across the community. Mercy Foundation North has raised over $10.5 million, including a generous donation of $3 million from Sierra Pacific Industries, further underscoring the collective commitment to improving cancer care and addressing the healthcare needs of our community members.
Construction of the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center is expected to be completed in 2026, representing a major step forward in Dignity Health's ongoing mission to deliver compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.
