In my own words

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, which has influenced my philosophy of care and how I approach medicine. I believe healthcare is a vast field with many philosophies backed by science. I view healthcare as a holistic practice; one that requires a strong understanding of a patient’s lifestyle, nutrition habits, and mental/physical health and how these, among other variables may be associated with their current symptoms or illness. I feel that it is important to take time to explain to patients why they may be experiencing certain symptoms, as well as providing them with guidance on how to prevent similar symptoms in the future. As a Redding native, I strive to provide quality, compassionate care to my community and to help others to lead a happier and healthier life.

 

I always knew I wanted to be involved with healthcare; I loved the idea of working with patients, the hospital environment and the fulfillment that came with healing, collaboration and teamwork. As an inquisitive young girl, I would follow my father around the hospital while he did his rounds. Before PA school, I had the privilege of traveling abroad to volunteer and work, which has influenced my work decision and helped me to become a more well-rounded and personable individual. I gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to be a medical provider and felt strongly that providing medical care to my community back home was what I wanted to pursue. I have always had an initial interest in surgery, but my interest in a surgical specialty deepened during my surgery rotation in PA school where I was able to assist in the operating room and work alongside a multitude of surgeons in Long Island, NY.

 

When not at work, you can find me enjoying the beautiful weather and nature that our community offers. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking with my husband and two dogs, rock climbing and practicing yoga. I love being outdoors, as well as spending time with friends and family, painting and reading.
