In my own wordsKyle F. Chun, MD was born and raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He was awarded a full academic Regent’s Scholarship to the University of Hawaii at Manoa where he graduated with highest honors in 2004. While at UH, he was also a member of the NCAA Division I men’s swim team. He then attended the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and graduated in 2008 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and class president.
Following medical school, Dr. Chun moved his family to Seattle, Washington for his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center, widely-regarded as one of the nation’s most elite and highest-ranked orthopedic surgery programs over the past 40 years.
After graduating from his residency training in 2013, Dr. Chun headed south to Los Angeles, California for sub-specialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the world-famous Southern California Orthopedic Institute, also known as “SCOI.” While there, he was trained in the most cutting-edge techniques in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to treat disorders of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle. At SCOI, Dr. Chun treated multiple professional athletes from the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB.
Upon his completion of fellowship in 2014, Dr. Chun returned home to Hawaii and joined Orthopedic Associates of Hawaii - the premier sports medicine and orthopedic group in the state. He served as an assistant clinical professor with the University of Hawaii medical school, and taught medical students and residents both in and out of the operating room.
In the fall of 2021, Dr. Chun and his wife felt God's call to leave their home of Hawaii. After months of prayer and searching, God led them to Prescott, Arizona where he has been practicing since the beginning of 2023.
In his free time, Dr. Chun enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and archery hunting across the western US.
