Dignity Health and Cristo Rey High School Partnership Featured on Telemundo

Telemundo Sacramento interviews Spanish-speaking Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital President and CEO, Edmundo Castañeda.

Cristo Rey High School Sacramento partners with organizations, such as Dignity Health, to offer students with limited economic resources a rigorous college-preparatory education combined with a unique Work-Study program – working with partner employers throughout the area, students learn professional work skills while generating income to offset the cost of their education.

Mercy General Hospital President and CEO, Edmundo Castañeda (pictured left) discusses the Dignity Health and Cristo Rey High School partnership with Yesenia Ramirez of Telemundo Sacramento. Edmundo talks with Yesenia about the significance of the partnership between Dignity Health and Cristo Rey High School - how it connects back to our heritage and the ministry of the Sisters of Mercy. Edmundo also highlights a few of the Cristo Rey students who participate in the work study program at the hospital and their contributions and personal growth. Students increase self-esteem, develop a strong work ethic and are exposed to a wide-range of career opportunities.

Sponsoring companies like Dignity Health allow students to earn 56 percent of the cost of their education.
